Did you get vaccinated this flu season?
With warmer spring weather just around the corner, many people wrongly assume that flu season is over and it’s too late to be vaccinated this year.
Last year the 2025 flu season started with a significant surge in influenza cases and hospitalisations.
This year Australia has recorded 82,710 laboratory-confirmed flu cases*. And as of mid-June 2026 approximately 174 of those flu cases were fatal*.
And while more people got vaccinated in the peak winter months this year; Pharmacy 777 Founder & Director Kim Brotherson still believes there’s room for improvement.
“It’s never been easier to get a flu vaccination at your local pharmacy,” Kim says.
“And there’s now more options than ever before, with new nasal sprays for children. Flu vaccines help reduce the spread of influenza and protects vulnerable members of the community, including
vulnerable members of society such as older Australians and children.
“I urge every Australian to do their bit and get their flu vaccine, even if its late in the season.”
This year across Australia the total number of administered flu vaccines (all providers, all states) was 8,710,310 with community pharmacy administered vaccines making up 31% of those vaccines. This year community pharmacy vaccines were up 5.9%.
To end of August 2026 Pharmacy 777 has administered 102,513 flu vaccines across Australia.
