Resupply of OCP Oral Contraceptive Pill
Pharmacists working in community pharmacy can now resupply approved Oral Contraceptive Pills (OCP) in defined circumstances.
The objective is to enable women timely and convenient access to refill their oral contraceptive pill.

Run out of repeats or prescription expired?
If you’ve run out of repeats, or your script has expired and you have seen your GP within the last two years, you may be eligible for the resupply. You must only be using the pill for birth control (preventing unwanted pregnancy).
Other terms and conditions, as well as age requirements per state apply.

In NSW, trained Pharmacists can now initiate and prescribe certain hormonal contraceptives, making access easier and more convenient.
During your consultation, the Pharmacist will take a thorough health history and may check measurements such as blood pressure and BMI. They will talk through your options with you, so together you can agree on the most suitable and effective contraceptive and sexual health plan for your needs.

What to expect
- A 15-minute private consultation.
- A consultation fee plus the cost of the medication if eligible.
- Your 777 Pharmacist will determine your eligibility which covers a risk assessment and measurement of your blood pressure and body mass index.
- If appropriate, another supply of your oral contraceptive pill can be provided.

In NSW, specially trained Pharmacists can now initiate and prescribe a range of hormonal contraceptives, including oral contraceptive pills, depot injections and vaginal rings.
In other states, trained Pharmacists can currently resupply hormonal contraceptives that have previously been prescribed by an authorised prescriber.
This scope of practice is continuing to expand across Australia.
Eligibility depends on age, medical history and state-based regulations.
