22/09/2021

The Pharmacy 777 network across rural, remote, and metropolitan Western Australia, is providing the COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca and are ready to support the next phase of the roll out including availability of Moderna’s Spikevax through community pharmacies.

The Pharmacy 777 network meets the highest levels of standards required to provide COVID-19 vaccinations and accessible advice.

“Pharmacy 777 has demonstrated that it sets the standard for delivering influenza vaccinations. We are now poised to make a bigger impact in the vaccine rollout across Western Australia” says Kim Brotherson, Pharmacy 777 Managing Director. “In the last 18 months, we have provided over 200,000 flu vaccinations to our community so are well versed in providing immunisation services.

“At this time of uncertainty, our pharmacists are easily accessible and here to support you. We encourage anyone who has concerns or questions about COVID-19 vaccinations, to visit the pharmacy and talk to their pharmacist anytime. We currently have the AstraZeneca vaccine available and are ready to provide the Moderna vaccine to eligible people in the aged 12 and over as vaccines are delivered to pharmacies over the next couple of weeks.

“Our pharmacists are committed to supporting the COVID-19 immunisation program. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with the Department of Health to roll out the program, including other vaccines, to reach more people,” Mr Brotherson said.

Nigel Krummel, Community Pharmacist from Pharmacy 777 Applecross explains Pharmacists are readily equipped to provide the service, “Pharmacists are already professionally accredited in delivering immunisations, such as influenza and whooping cough and we adhere to the highest clinical standards to provide these services.

“Similarly, the COVID-19 vaccination service has specific clinical procedures that meet high level clinical governance requirements, including cold chain storage and both pharmacy and patient workflows,” said Mr Krummel.

“Pharmacists providing COVID-19 vaccinations have declared completion of the Government’s COVID-19 Vaccination training to deliver the service and support patients with comprehensive counselling and post-vaccination observation.”

“Bookings and enquiries about COVID-19 vaccines are growing as it becomes more widely known that we are providing the service,” said Crystal Yap, Pharmacy 777 Spearwood Pharmacist.

“Our Pharmacists are dedicated to continue supporting the roll out and are prepared and ready to help vaccinate our community with other vaccine types and booster vaccines once made available.

“We also understand the vaccines and dose timing intervals can be confusing so please see our Pharmacists for advice. We can help with any questions you have so you can make informed decisions and feel supported,” said Ms Yap.
