Fat Cats head to children in need as part of Pharmacy 777’s $100,000 donation to Telethon

7/12/2022

As a proud partner of Telethon, Pharmacy 777 is delighted to see our donated Fat Cat dolls being collected and distributed to many children in need.

As part of our $100,000 donation to Telethon, raised through our community pharmacy group and thanks to the generosity of Western Australians, Pharmacy 777 donated $10,000 worth of Fat Cat dolls. These dolls are being collected by the seven beneficiaries selected by Telethon and distributed to the children in their care.

One of the beneficiaries is Healthy Strides Foundation which provides treatments for children with neurological conditions and injuries. Dayna Pool, PhD Physiotherapist at Healthy Strides says the Fat Cat dolls have a wonderful effect on the children they work with.

“Handing out Fat Cat dolls to the kids that come through our doors always puts a big smile on their face. We are grateful to be able to hand these out to the most wonderful kids of Perth because they're not just dolls. We have come to realise that it is far more than that - Fat Call dolls are a symbol of community, childhood and fun and we're all about that," Ms Pool said.

The seven Fat Cat doll beneficiaries are:

  • Anglicare WA, which, through its Young Hearts service, supports children affected by family and domestic violence.

  • Fostering Hope, which runs parties and educational events for foster children.

  • Hannah’s House, which supports children with life-limiting and complex conditions, offering in-home respite care, play therapies and other services for the wellbeing of these children and their families.

  • Healthy Strides Foundation, a dedicated intensive care centre providing evidence-based treatments for children with neurological conditions and injuries and conducting research, all with the goal of enabling children to participate in everyday life.

  • Helping Little Hands, a targeted, collaborative and culturally sensitive effort to support Aboriginal families with premature or sick babies in attending hospital and being part of their baby’s care.

  • Perth Children's Hospital Foundation, which is helping to transform the healthcare of WA’s sick children through advanced technology, ground-breaking research, innovative training programs, investment in world-class expertise and positive patient experiences.

  • Tiny Sparks WA, which provides children born early or sick with early intervention in a play setting through its Developmental Playground and provides families of babies in neonatal care with essential items.

We are grateful to all our community pharmacies and everyone who donated to Telethon for their generosity in helping to make a difference in the lives of children and their families across WA.
