Checking in on Women’s Health

30/08/2023

But this Jean Hailes Women’s Health Week (4-8 September) women and those around them are being given a timely reminder to make that appointment and make their health a priority.

The 2023 theme is Grow Your Knowledge and its focus is on supporting women to make informed decisions about their health with information that's easy to understand.

This year’s program will feature evidence-based resources and information on hormones, PCOS, menopause, cervical screening self-collection, heart health, persistent pelvic pain and nutrition.

Pharmacy 777 is proud to be partnering with Jean Hailes for the 11th annual Women’s Health Week.

“Women are very often the care givers in families and that means that they don’t always book in for routine health checks or support when they should,” Pharmacy 777 Pharmacist Somayyeh Atagazli said.

“We want to encourage women to take that important time out for self-care, not only to look after themselves, but also to make sure that they are in optimal health.

Jean Hailes for Women’s Health CEO Dr Sarah White says Women’s Health Week is the perfect time to book in a health check.

“Whether it’s making an appointment for a cervical screening test, getting your blood pressure checked, or booking in a breast screening, there are many easy ways to support your own health this Women’s Health Week.

Health checks to measure your risk of chronic conditions like type 2 diabetes are just as important,” she said.

“Health checks are an important preventative care service that can help women live healthy lives, they provide women with choices as well as trusted health advice at every stage of life,” Somayyeh said.

“Health checks are an important preventative care service that can help women live healthy lives.  They provide women with choices as well as trusted health advice at every stage of life. Our Pharmacist-delivered Health Check provides a risk assessment for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, including appropriate referral and advice.”

“Our pharmacists can also help women with other health services including Out of Hospital support, medication management, sleep health services, weight management and supporting chronic health conditions. Most recently in WA, QLD and NSW, women now have access to in-pharmacy support for uncomplicated urinary tract infections which has been welcomed by our patients.”

“Women’s Health Week brings people together and makes them feel they are not alone”, says Jean Hailes for Women’s Health CEO Dr Sarah White. “It simplifies and demystifies women’s health and provides all women with the latest evidence-based information.”
